Gemma Estrada

Ferrer, Director Digital Health and Technology

Gemma has over 20 years of experience in pharma companies (Uriach, Sanofi, Ferrer) and CROs (Harrison Clinical Research, Synteract). She holds a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Barcelona, an Executive Management Degree and a Diploma in Marketing and Leadership from ESADE. Enthused by Transparency, Patient Centricity and Mobile Health, she started in Clinical Development to assist clinical operations connect with a relevant human experience. After 23 years she transitioned to Digital Health and currently leads a collective effort to reimagine Ferrer by leveraging “digital” on behalf of patients, doctors, payers, partners and employees. She is the director of Ferrer4Future, an open innovation program to collaborate with start-ups in the construction of a healthier society through digital technologies while making an impact on the sustainability of universal healthcare.

Laura Modiano

Amazon, Business Development Healthcare and Lifescience Startups, EMEA at AWS

Laura is a Principal for Business Development for Healthcare and Life Science Startups across EMEA. She previously spent 12 years in the HCLS industry working in Boston, London, Paris and the Nordics. She started out working in telehealth at AmWell, was a strategy consultant for Big Pharma with Monitor Group and Deloitte, led Healthcare Partnerships and Real World Evidence in EMEA for Boston Scientific, let the outpatient pathway improvement work for University College of London Hospitals and North Central London and was the strategy lead in NHS England for Genetic Service design nationally. Most recently she was the head of BD for a circulating tumor cell isolation device.

Laura holds a BA in Psychology and Economics from Tufts, an MSc in Health Management from City University, a  diploma in Valuation from Oxford University, and diplomas in Genomic Medicine from Imperial College and Cambridge University.

Nina Capital, Founder & Managing Partner

Marta G. Zanchi is the founding managing partner of Nina Capital, a specialized, pan-European venture capital firm investing exclusively at the intersection of healthcare and technology. A vision for the future inspires the firm. Data, computing, networks, and other digital and deep technologies deliver meaningful outcomes and insight for improving health and care provision. In investment criteria and process, Nina Capital is informed by a health technology innovation methodology known as Biodesign, born at Stanford University, where Marta earned her Doctorate in Electrical Engineering and was previously a Faculty member and Director.


Thomas Geuenich

Teladoc Health, Commercial Director, Germany

Thomas Geuenich is Commercial Director for Germany at Teladoc Health, the global leader in virtual care with >10 million telehealth consultations in 2020, serving patients across more than 175 countries in over 40 languages. Before joining Teladoc, Thomas built up the European commercial and operational teams for the Finnish oncology start-up Noona Healthcare. Previously, he led client engagements for the healthcare & life science practices at L.E.K. Consulting across Germany, the US, and the UK. He studied business administration at Rotterdam School of Management and holds an MBA degree from IESE Business School.

Jacob Sunol

Jacob Suñol

Former Ipsen, Chief Digital Officer. Former Roche, CTO

Jacob is the former Chief Digital Officer at Ipsen. He was responsible for leading IPSEN’s global digital initiatives across five business domains – Oncology, Neurosciences, Rare disease, R&D and Business Development.
Before that, Jacob worked at Roche Diabetes Care in Barcelona as VP Global Head of Digital Innovation, leading the digital innovation group to create innovative products to help T1D, T2D and pre-diabetes. At Roche, he formerly led the Digital Solution Organization to design & develop consumer, professional and data solutions as Digital CTO, VP Global Head of Ecosystems. Passionate about digital to support healthcare, Jacob also started a company in 2012, a Care management platform that helped patients better understand their chronic disease and facilitates lasting behavioural changes for a better quality of life. Jacob likes to code in his free time, mostly learning new languages or cool projects for friends. He loves Python and Javascript.

Michal Wlodarski

Solvemed, Chief Executive Officer at Solvemed Group

Michal has over 8 years of professional experience in the healthcare and life science industry, spanning venture building and management, strategy consulting, technology forecasting and scouting, academic and industrial R&D, and teaching and mentoring at the graduate level. As the Co-CEO at Solvemed Group, he takes overall responsibility for strategy, business and research operations, and commercial activities. He holds an Honorary Lectureship position at the University College London (UCL) where he teaches on strategic decision making and technology innovation in life sciences. Michal obtained a Master of Pharmacy (MPharm) degree from the UCL School of Pharmacy and trained as a clinical and industrial pharmacist at the NHS England and GlaxoSmithKline R&D. He followed on to obtain an interdisciplinary and PhD degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Cambridge. Michal is passionate about technology innovation and entrepreneurship, and frequently shares his experience as a guest speaker at international conferences.

Valentino Confalone

Gilead Sciences, Vice President, General Manager Italy

Valentino Confalone is the General Manager at Gilead Sciences in Italy, where he works closely with a wide
range of stakeholders in the healthcare system to address market access issues. As Chairman of the Advance Therapy Medical Products group of the Italian trade association Farmindustria, he is working on the development of a Value Framework for advanced therapies currently under discussion with the Italian authorities.
Before coming to Gilead, he was Head of Europe Dompé Biotech and at Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS).
At BMS he worked on both the national and international level including as Business Unit Director Virology
in France, Oncology Market Access Lead Europe, and General Manager Portugal. In his role of Market Access
Lead Oncology in BMS he developed the access and pricing strategies for the first immune‐oncology
treatment ipilimumab for the treatment of advanced melanoma.
Confalone started his career in the pharma industry with Schering‐Plough in Spain.
He holds a degree in Economics from the University Federico II of Naples, a Master’s Degree in International
Relations, and Masters’ Degrees in Business Administration from the IESE Business School in Barcelona.

Marta Forns

Pfizer, Senior Director, Regional Marketing Africa & Middle East

Marta holds 20 years of successful professional experience at leading multinational FMCG and Pharmaceutical companies. Marta brings a unique rich diverse experience having worked in several geographies including Europe, Asia and Africa and in diverse roles in Sales, Marketing, Retail, Portfolio Management and Compliance. Marta speaks 5 languages and holds a Bachelor Degree in Pharmaceutical Science from the University of Barcelona with an exchange program at Friedrich Wilhelms Universitat Bonn (Germany) and an MBA from ESADE Business with an exchange program at Australian Graduate School of Management (Australia).
Marta is currently based in Dubai where she joined Pfizer 8 years ago holding different positions as Regional Marketing Director for Africa and Middle East. Recently she was appointed to the role of Pfizer Senior Compliance Director to further expand her cross functional experience.
Prior to Pfizer, Marta was based in Barcelona where she worked at Boehringer Ingelheim leading the Hospital Business and at Sanofi Aventis in the Diabetes Franchise.

Freddy Jimenez Gomez

Pfizer, Regional Commercial Lead Africa and Middle East

Senior Director in one of the world's premier innovative biopharmaceutical companies, responsible for transforming the Go-To-Market model and the commercial strategy, serving 1.5B+ people across the region. Freddy had has roles of increasing responsibility including Global Brand Building Strategy Director, SMS & MCM Latin America Director and SMS Global LT member.
Currently Freddy is majoring a Senior Executive Leadership Program at Harvard (2019-2021) , and an Artificial Intelligence Program at MIT (2021). He holds a Behavioral Economics Program at Harvard (2018),  Digital Business Strategy Program at MIT (2019), and MBA at Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey (Mexico).
Professor of Strategic Thinking, Neuromarketing and Customer Behavior in Master Marketing Program at two of leading universities in Colombia.


Marion Chalumeau

Novartis, Head of Digital and Innovation

Marion Chalumeau is the head of Digital and Innovation at Novartis Oncology. She has over 20 years of professional experience in the healthcare industry starting with 10 years in Healthcare consulting, followed by 3 years in biotech and for the last 8 years she has been working for Novartis Oncology in Spain. She holds a Master of Science from AgroParisTech (France) and a Master in Pharmaceutical Marketing from EADA,
Her purpose is to leave to her children a world where health and in particular oncology is accessible to all and to participate in reimagining medicine. She is committed to achieve it through an innovative and imaginative science and relying on new digital technologies to discover and create solutions that transform, not only the way to investigate and develop treatments, but also the healthcare paradigm.


Marco Giannitrapani

Roche, Head of Advanced Analytics for Business Insights

Marco is the Head of Advanced Analytics for Business insights for Roche Pharma, which encompasses areas of responsibilities such as Platform & Data, AI & Data Science, and Decision Analysis & Forecasting. Marco brings a unique combination of technical knowledge, team management expertise, and ability to lead organizational change. Marco had experienced building and leading global data science teams from scratch in organizations like Roche and Novartis, introducing AI into business processes and operations like Finance, Marketing, Sales, Medical, Supply Chain and Manufacturing. Marco also covered other advanced analytics roles applied to business problems in other Global companies like Bayer Pharmaceuticals, Shell, Laureate International Universities and Royal & Sun Alliance.
Marco holds an MBA from IESE Business School (Spain), a PhD in Statistics from the University of Glasgow (UK), and an MSc in Statistics & Economics from University of Palermo (Italy).


Nick Benson

Medtronic, Sr. Director, Strategy & Business Development

As part of Medtronic’s Cranial and Spinal Technology Operating Unit, Nick leads global commercialization and upstream marketing for Spine Data Solutions.  He has more the 12 years of medical technology experience in various roles focused on M&A, business leadership, upstream and downstream marketing.  With more that 40 patents and patent applications in various stages of prosecution, Nick has collaborated with surgeons and development teams to create and bring new products and procedures to patients around the world.  He has a passion for finding great ideas and great people capable of making major healthcare improvements.  Prior to joining Medtronic, Nick had an 8-year US retail career in consumer electronics.
Nick holds a BS in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, an MBA from Christian Brothers University and an MA and PhD in Economics from the University of Memphis.


Carlo Brianza

La Comanda - Trillio Health, CEO

Carlo is the founder & CEO of La Comanda - Trillio health, the Internet-Of-Healthcare startup company connecting caregivers with their patients in the smartest way.
Before starting his own business Carlo had a long experience in Nokia where he headed Sales and Capabilities for south Europe and Sales and Marketing of digital services (location based services, music, games, app store, etc.).
Carlo holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano.

Marcos Gallego Llorente

Vintura, Senior Consultant

Marcos brings more than 6 years of experience helping companies and governments exploit the opportunities that constantly arise from innovation and emerging technologies, futureproof their innovation portfolios, and identify the most lucrative opportunities enabled by emerging technologies. Marcos currently works for Vintura, the leading European Healthcare and Life Sciences consulting boutique, where he helps big pharma and medtech on commercial strategy, market access and digital health. He also worked for the OECD on devising policy challenges regarding AI in Healthcare and the Biotech sector, and has a PhD in Genetics from the University of Cambridge, where, among other achievements, published a first-author publication in the journal Science. Academically, Marcos directs teaching on the Future of Healthcare at the IE University, and co-leads the IE Centre for the Governance of Change program on “Innovation and Sustainability in the Future of Healthcare”, which presented the main set of results in June 2020. For this, he has readily worked with leading figures from companies such as Lilly and GSK, organisations such as the NHS and NHSx, the OECD and the European Commission, disruptors, and experts from policy, technology and the medical world.

Magda Rosenmöller

Senior Lecturer of Production, Technology and Operations Management

Magdalene Rosenmöller is a senior lecturer in the Department of Production, Technology, and Operations Management. She teaches the second-year MBA elective course on health sector management and is also a lecturer in the executive education department. She lectures at a number of other schools and institutions in Europe, Latin America, and Asia, including the China European International Business School (CEIBS) in Shanghai.
She holds a Ph.D. in health policy from the University of London, UK; an M.D. from the Louis Pasteur University of Strasbourg, France, and an MBA from IESE Business School, Spain.
She is a member of several international organizations including the European Health Member Association (EHMA), on whose board she served for a period. She is the editor/co-editor of several publications, the most recent being the book Patient Mobility in the European Union. Learning from Experience (May 2006). She was recently appointed to the editorial boards of the EU Public Health Portal and the newly-created Journal of Healthcare Management and Marketing.

Esmée (Yiying) Chiu

IESE Business School's MBA candidate, Esmée has worked in digital transformation for top telecom and fundraising for a biotech startup over the past 5 years. Her background in healthcare has given her the passion to make an impact using digital transformation.


Esmée helped Taiwan’s top telco transform retail sales into e-commerce sales. Onboarding US $6M in seed and Series A financing (7x sector's average investment in Taiwan) and managing product launching campaign for a startup, Esmée is a proactive team leader who likes to tackle challenges in an analytical way.

Roni Steiner

A current IESE MBA candidate and a professional biomedical engineer with over 7 years of work experience in Medical-Device start-ups, developing and managing the manufacturing of novel implantable devices that help millions of patients around the world.

Highly skilled in public speaking and communication, having instructed trauma care treatment to Israel's top medical doctors for 3 years during my military service in the Israel Defence Force as well as having presented products to top investors as part of due diligence which helped to raise $17.1M in new financing.

Lucas Lyra

IESE MBA 2022, Healthcare Club First-year director, Panel moderator

A current IESE MBA candidate and a marketing professional with over 7 years of work experience in tech and healthcare, developing new solutions for optimizing patient’s journeys in hospitals, helping healthcare companies to conduct digital transformation processes, and researching better ways to engage patients to their treatments.

Lucas is currently Co-Founder and CEO at Infomedics, a digital platform that provides complementary education to healthcare professionals in Brazil. The company has already impacted more than 1,000 professionals and granted official certificates from the University of São Paulo, ranked #1 university in Latin America by QS University Rankings.


IESE Healthcare Day is an annual conference organized by IESE MBA student directors of the Healthcare Club. We invite executives and thought leaders from different corners of the healthcare industry to discuss current issues, explore the major trends and challenges, and exchange ideas of possible solutions with IESE's extended community.
